4A Mrs Greenhalgh
Unit 3 – Spring 2 Term
This half term the pupils in unit 3 will be exploring our landscape and how it motivates artists. We will begin with a visit to Syke Moor to examine our local environment. Pupils will then explore the work of artists, such as Barbara Hepworth and Heather Galler. Our topic culminates with a fantastic workshop at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where pupils can see art within the landscape. Don’t forget to help pupils work towards points in their learning challenge homework!
In English, pupils will use our ‘Write Stuff’ writing templates to debate the pros and cons of excessive use of screen time in the modern generation. Spellings will continue to be given out weekly (to be tested each Friday).
In Mathematics, we will begin by looking at 3D shapes before moving on to study fractions and decimals. Maths homework will continue to be given each Friday (to be returned the following Tuesday). All pupils are also challenged to learn their multiplication tables with increasing speed and accuracy.
In Religion lessons, we will conclude our work on the Eucharist before beginning our Easter preparations. The Sacramental Programme will also continue to run for our Y3 candidates.
As you can see, we have planned an action packed programme which (when combined with St Patrick’s Day, World Book Day and Holy Week preparations) will ensure our pupils have much to look forward to learning and experiencing.
Thank you for your support.
