Welcome to 5/6 SB. We have 26 pupils this year in 5/6SB – a mixture of year 5 and year 6 pupils. I, Mrs Blackburn am the class teacher and working alongside me will be two experience teaching assistants, Mrs Matloob and Mrs Ashworth. We are all looking forward to sharing lots of new experiences, learning and making new friends and memories. We always work hard at St. Patrick’s School and I am looking forward to seeing wonderful presentation in the first instance: then progressing onto challenging yourself within all your work. Important information such as: PE days, homework days and reading books will be shared with children in September.
Once children move up into year 5/6, pupils will have additional responsibilities around school such as: leading by example as school role models to the younger children; taking the lead with School Council; participating as members of the GIFT and Caritas Team; assisting with assemblies; and representing the school at the various sporting competitions that we will be hopefully participating in throughout the year. It is sure to be a busy year! In addition to this year 6 children, we have also booked a residential visit too (information will be given out in September).
We have an exciting year of learning planned for all the children, beginning with a geography unit called Wet, Wet, Wet. Following on from this in history we will learn about the Victorians.
Your child’s well-being is of vital importance to us and want to ensure that they are happy and progressing. If you have any queries, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via the class email
